One Key to Better Parenting

“Prayer turns an ordinary parent into a prophet. Prayer shapes the destiny and future of our children and the following generations.” Mark Batterson

Parenting is a tough job. In fact, parenting is probably the hardest job on the planet. At the same time, it is also the most rewarding and is one of the few jobs that has the power to affect not just the present, but future generations.

In the daily grind of being a spouse, being a parent, being an employee, being an employer, etc., it is easy to lose sight of the end goal when it comes to our kids. It’s so easy to push the auto-pilot button and let life dictate how we parent and influence our kids. Let’s not forget that being a parent is the most important thing that we are called to do.

The most effective parents are the ones who have learned the importance of being intentional in the way that they are raising their children. Part of this intentionality means praying regularly with and for our kids. There is a power that is released when we pray with our children that shapes their spirit and personality. The earlier we begin praying with them, the earlier this shaping can take place. Teaching them how to connect with God will not only affect their earthly lives, but also ensures they come to know Jesus and spend eternity with Him. Don’t ever discount the power of your prayers for your children!
