Annie and I always love it when we have visitors. We recently had an incredible team visit all the way from Brisbane, Australia. They were from C3 Church Bridgeman Downs. That is a great church pastored by our good friends Gordon and Jo Moore. The team was led by Pastor Geoff Cake, who is the Outreach/Missions pastor for the church.

The primary reason that the team came to Brazil was to visit several of Compassion International’s sites in Northeast Brazil. They

spent almost a week in and around the town of Codó. This is a very poor and depressed area and Compassion is doing a great work there serving poor children and their families. The team visited three different Compassion locations. The five team members all had the opportunity to meet the children that they are sponsoring.

The Aussies were able to play and interact with their sponsored children, and in a couple of cases, even meet the child’s family. Compassion International is a Christian organization and always works through a local church in the community. The team participated in several church meetings in Codó and saw 35 children accept Christ.

After their time in Northeast Brazil, the team came to Curitiba to spend time with us and the church here. These guys are incredible servants. When they found out that there was an opportunity to assist a local ministry, Open Hands, they immediately volunteered and spent part of a day doing manual labor.

Annie also took our friends all over Curitiba, showing them some of the sights. We had several great opportunities to share meals together and hear what God was doing in Australia. They were also very encouraged by what they saw happening at C3 Church Curitiba.

On Sunday, the Aussies participated in C3 Curitiba’s service. They all shared a bit about their time in Codó and how it had impacted them. Pastor Geoff preached a powerful message on the importance of the local church and how important it is for all of us to serve the vision of our church. We had a packed house and several people came to Christ.

As a church, C3 Curitiba already sponsors two Brazilian children through Compassion International. As a leadership team, though, we were all challenged that we need to encourage our church to step out and sponsor more children as individuals and families. Would you consider partnering with Annie and I as we serve in Brazil? Obrigado! (Thank you!)
