Give it Away!

“Influence comes not from what you get in life. Influence comes from what you give away in life, and the more you give away, the more influential you’ll be.” Rick Warren

“Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Jesus

When we think about giving, it is only natural that we think about money. In reality, however, giving is much bigger than just being generous with our finances. A truly generous person is always generous with more than just their wallet. They tend to be generous with their time, with their encouragement, with their talents and gifts, and generous with their kindness.

Those of us who are leaders understand the importance of influence. Influence can’t be given to someone just by giving them a title. Influence is a result of our generosity. As we begin to invest in the lives of those we are leading, our influence begins to grow. When we give service, honor, and respect to our leaders, we often find that we have more influence in our our own sphere of leadership.
