Do You Have a Plan for Your Workouts?

“If you aim at nothing, you will probably hit it.”

What is your plan when you go into the gym? Do you know what you are going to be doing for each workout? I am always amazed to watch people come into the gym with little or no plan for their workout sessions. They have planned on coming to the gym, but that is as far as their planning went.

For maximum results, you should have at least a basic outline of what you are going to be working on that day. Which body parts are you going to exercise? What exercises are you going to use? Are you going to try to lift heavier weight this workout than what you did last time?

Having a plan helps you maximize your workouts and get the most out of your time in the gym. One of the things that I did for years was to keep a workout journal. By writing my workouts down, I find that I am easily able to monitor my progress and remember what I did in my last workout so I can better plan the current one.

If you are not even sure where to start in developing an actual workout plan, I would recommend hiring a personal trainer. A good personal trainer will customize a training plan just for you. They will work with you to help you achieve your fitness goals and show you how to perform each exercise. Another option is to check out some of the on-line resources that are available. There are many excellent workout routines available on-line that can help you get bigger and stronger or to fulfill whatever your goals are.
