Jesus says, “Don’t get angry and call your brother ‘stupid.'”

The Law says, “Don’t commit adultery.”

Jesus says, “Don’t look lustfully at someone.”

The Law says, “Don’t steal.”

Jesus says, “Don’t covet someone else’s stuff.”

The Law says, “An eye for an eye…”

Jesus says, “Forgive those who sin against you.”

Jesus takes us back to the Spirit of the Law. He is concerned with our hearts more than our actions, because, ultimately, our hearts will determine our actions. “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
