Now or Later?

“We enjoy the fruit of our bad habits now but pay for them in the future. We pay for our good habits now but enjoy their fruit in the future.” James Clear- Atomic Habits

Do I engage in that flirty conversation with the cute girl at work? It will stroke my ego in the moment but it is also going to damage my marriage in the long run.

Do I get up a half hour early to read my Bible and pray? My bed is so comfortable but I know that cultivating my relationship with God is something that will help me for the rest of my life.

I know I need to get to the gym but missing one workout isn’t going to hurt me. This is true but one skipped workout leads to another. The power of our habits is that they compound over time.

The question is, are we going to pay now or pay later?
