Story of the Week

Third Place this week is not from Florida. It is still pretty strange, though!  Man Uses Bow and Arrow in Road Rage Incident. This story actually comes out of Michigan. One driver tried to pass a pickup truck. The pickup driver took offense and ran the passing car off the road. Of course, they had to stop and discuss it. The conversation deteriorated and the pickup truck driver pulled his bow out, threaded a hunting arrow, drew the arrow back and pointed it at the other guy. The other driver fled and called the police who arrested the guy in the pickup truck. I think it should have gone without saying that the guy with the bow was in a pickup truck. I can’t picture a guy driving around with a hunting bow in a Prius.

Second Place this week belongs to this bizarre story out of Pennsylvania: Couple Attacked by Bear in Home: ‘We Saved Each Other.’ It was just another Monday morning. Rich and Angie were getting ready for the week. Rich let their dog, Bindy, out for her morning run. A few minutes later, though, Bindy came running back through the door with a black bear chasing her. When the bear saw Rich, it attacked him. Angie heard the struggle and came to investigate. The bear then left Rich laying on the floor and attacked Angie. Rich got up and knocked the bear off his wife. The bear attacked Rich again but after a few minutes decided that he wasn’t that hungry after all and left the house. It took about 40 stitches to close up the wounds to Rich’s head. He also had 20 puncture wounds from the bear’s bites. Angie had a big chunk bit out of her bottom and a few other punctures. The good news is that both Rich and Angie will be fine. They are trading Bindy in for a more protective dog. The other good news is that Angie will not be asking Rich if these pants make her butt look big for a while.

This weeks winning headline is a loss for all of us: Apple’s Visionary Steve Jobs Dead at 56. Mr. Jobs finally succumbed to a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The tributes have been written more elegantly and poetically than I could ever write so I am going to post a few of the two and a half million Tweets that have been posted about Steve Jobs since his death.

@jwmoss
Jonathan Moss:  Steve Jobs was born out of wedlock, put up for adoption at birth, dropped out of college, then changed the world. What’s your excuse?

Once in a rare while, somebody comes along who doesnt just raise the bar, they create an entirely new standard of measurement. #RIPSteveJobs
