What Can Small Do For You?

“The churches here in the province of Asia send greetings in the Lord, as do Aquila and Priscilla and all the others who gather in their home for church meetings.”

Most of the time, when we think of Church, we think of a particular building where we assemble. The early Church did not have that luxury. It was not until the Third Century that buildings were built and used exclusively as churches.

This coming weekend is Discipleship Group weekend at my church. Every other week, people meet together in a leader’s home and share a meal, laugh together, pray together, study the Bible together, and sometimes even cry together. In this type of setting, people will often be more willing to talk about what is going on in their world.

These meetings don’t take the place of the big corporate meeting. We love to worship together on Sunday morning! The D-Groups do provide another opportunity for connection, just in a smaller setting. Every church does groups differently. There is no “one size fits all” in the Kingdom. For some churches, their Sunday School program works nicely to provide a small group for people. For others, it might be a woman’s Bible Study or a Men’s Discipleship Group. Whatever it might look like for you, though, I encourage you to plug into a small group. It might just change your life!

Are you a part of a small group? How do they work in your church setting?
